We finally got our placement location:
Hachioji, Tokyo
When we got the email telling us our placement I honestly couldn't believe how great it is. I mean, anything would be extremely exciting, but being so close to Tokyo seems like a blessing we never expected. We'll be about an hour train ride away from Tokyo (to the west) yet still in the Tokyo prefecture. Annnd, we're about a 2 hour ride away from Tokyo Disney. Kris cannot stop reminding me of that.
So far we've done as much research as we can on Hachioji, but havent found a ton of info. What we do find is very exciting though. There's supposed to be some good shopping areas, lots of universities, and beautiful mountains very nearby. More info to come when we get there and have more first hand info to report.
As of this moment we 11 days and 8 hours until we get on the plane to leave. There's still so much to do! Tomorrow we go to SF again to get our visas. I've bought my work suits but still need to get some shirts. Then I have to renew my drivers license. We also need to get international driving permits. And finally... pack.
Next week we'll be spending some time with family on vacation, but other than that we'll be tackling our To Do list and spending time with family and friends. Oh... and selling that stuff we still have... ugh.
We're starting to get really excited. We've been practicing Japanese more, and trying to sort out all the details we can. So far though it still feels like we have a ton to do and next to no time to do it. We'll see how the next week goes...
