Ikea haul

Today was Sunday and it was a recovery day. Since yesterday was a bit of a bummer we really wanted to have a good day today- and part of that meant going to Ikea to ease some homesickness, to get some textiles, and to eat some meatballs.

We always say we're going to get an early start on the weekend but then we never roll out of bed before noon, especially lately- its so cold in the morning! Thats partly why we needed to hit up the textiles section of Ikea. Our current comforter is made for a single bed so when we curl up in bed one of us (Kris) is only half under the blanket. Today we bought a comforter made for cold weather, a duvet cover, and some sheets.

We also picked up some cheap surge strips (in Japan plugs have only 2 prongs):

Now that Halloween is over Japan has gone right into Christmas mode. There are Christmas lights going up everywhere, theres Christmas merchandise in the stores, and we've started hearing Christmas music too. This has me a bit worried- I don't know if I can mentally handle two full months of Christmas music- I already had songs stuck in my head. Ikea has already taken down their Halloween decorations and set up this Christmas display:

And our local train station sure is exciting lately. Today when we walked through there we found out theres a 3-day Bread Festival going on. Theres 3 rows of tents where a ton of bakeries are selling all sorts of bread treats, and it drew a huge crowd today. Then on our way home tonight we saw these cute Christmas lights up under the long walkway to the station.

Tomorrow I have work then Tuesday is another day off, not sure why. We have a couple more errands to run then- we need a small heater for the bathroom area. Its so weird to have such a cold house- this winter is definitely going to be different.
