Its finally starting to get warmer around here. Its still pretty cold, we still wake up to our home being 10° C inside (50° F), but I don't need a scarf, hat, and gloves every morning anymore. I've been running around to all my 6 schools seeing them for the last time this school year. the school year in Japan ends at the end of March and begins in April. Soon all my 3rd year middle school students will go to high school and all my 2nd years will be bumped up to 3rd.
I feel like I've been so crazy busy and just worn out every afternoon. Other than that life as usual has been going on. Kris makes amazing dinners, or if we're very lazy we get dinner from the nearby 7 Eleven. Kris does the grocery shopping, I do the laundry, then it sits on the drying rack for a week. It never snowed again, which totally bums us out. Maybe next year there'll be more. Every day at school I study Japanese and read books that I download to my tablet. I've read through about a dozen books the last two months. I'm nearing the end of our beginning Japanese textbook but, since I mostly just study reading and writing quietly at work, I'm really not good at speaking or listening. Gotta start practicing that more! But soon I'll be moving on to reading simple manga in Japanese- and I'll be starting with the series called Yotsubato, about a young girl who's learning Japanese herself so its supposed to be easy to read.
I wish there was some interesting news to share, but really we've just been living an everyday normal life. No holidays, extreme weather, festivals or traveling. No improvements in communication, no changes in routine. The most exciting thing for us lately is that we've been going to Costco on weekends and buying cookies! We don't see cookies very often and the ones I've tried just didnt taste like I expected them too. The ones from Costco taste just like home.
I've still been making slow, small improvements to the apartment so soon I'll have to show you guys all that. Other than all that I've been doing some watercolor portraits and I think I'd like to do more. If you guys know anyone who wants watercolor pet portraits from Japan send them my way!
Sorry its been so long since I've posted, but I'm really trying to get back on track. Hopefully you'll see another post from us later this week!
